Nothing

Last night, we hung out on the couch and did NOTHING. If you know us at all, you know that we are on the go ALL.THE.TIME. Tuesday is our only free night during the week and last night we took full advantage - worked out, fixed dinner, skyped with Jenni, cleaned the kitchen, then sat down with our laptops, coffee (tea for me), and leftover birthday dessert, and just enjoyed being at home together. Of course, we were in bed by 9:30 because 5:21 a.m. this morning came way too quickly...

Look for more this week (hopefully) with pictures and stories about Trevor's big birthday weekend...

It's Been a Good Day

Today has been a good day.

Our alarm went off at 5:45. We got up and dressed and I took Trevor to meet the guys for a little pre-birthday golf outing. Meanwhile, I stopped by Starbucks on the way to the grocery store (got a free upgrade all because the Barista was pleasantly surprised that I gave a tip) and I was reminded why I love going to the grocery store at 7:00 on a Saturday morning. Everything is freshly stocked and besides a few employees here and there, I've got the place pretty much all to myself. I pulled out of the parking lot with groceries in tow by 7:40 and was home with groceries put away by just after eight. I quickly cleaned up the kitchen, which I'd been neglecting to do for a few evenings :\ and headed upstairs to print off some music and get myself showered and dressed in time for...

My first recording session with The Nashville Choir!! We recorded in the RCA/Victor studio on music row. The room was amazing - apparently a TON of film scores are recorded there. So I recorded all morning and had a blast!

I left the studio to pick up Trevor, who was freshly showered and shaven (and HANDSOME) after his golf game, and we went to the airport to pick up Kendra who is staying with us for a few days!! We got home and gave her the tour and played our guitars and now we're headed to Trevor's 30th Birthday Bash.

Can this day get better? I submit that it can....

Grow Up

I have to grow up.

I don’t want to, but I have to.

I want to rest on the assurance of things I’ve done already, things I’ve seen, things I know are safe, comfortable, easy.
I have to grow up.

I have to put childish things behind me. Laziness, procrastination, disorganization.

I don’t want to grow up.

I don’t want to, but I have to.

I have to grow up.

Menu Monday!

Alright, so it's Tuesday, BUT I made my menu and shopping list on Sunday, so taking the mathematical average of Tuesday and Sunday, I get MONDAY...so it's still fair. Plus, it's my blog so I win. :)

Our menus are going to be pretty skimpy this fall because of our schedule. Due to early evening activities at church Wednesdays and Thursdays, we'll be eating at "The Caf" at Trevecca. Sundays after church, we have decided to eat out with friends most weeks. So that leaves just a few meals a week, but after a busy and sporadic summer, I'm super excited about cooking again. And fun fall foods are upon us. If you read this blog at all, you know that I LOVE FALL!!

So here's what we're eating this week at our house:

Monday: Leftovers (starting out with a bang)

Tuesday: Oven baked corn dogs, salad, and chili roasted sweet potato fries

Wednesday & Thursday: TNU

Friday: Pizza on the grill, salad, and green beans

Saturday: Muffins, turkey bacon and fruit for breakfast; Leftovers for lunch; Oven-Baked Pressed Sandwiches for supper

Sunday: out for lunch, BBQ with The Gathering students for supper

See, I told you it wouldn't be super-exciting, but I am looking forward to corn dogs and sweet potato fries tonight! Let me know what you're making this week.
